ICA in the UK has been involved
in international development since the 1970s.
The Village Volunteers
sponsorship scheme was set up in 1985, and subsequently
grants were raised for ICA Egypt and ICA
Kenya. From 1995-2005, the programme focused on capacity
development of ICAs in Africa, including grant raising and
management, and began to expand into the provision of training
and facilitation services for clients.
The 2005-2008 strategy for the International Programmes was
reviewed and consolidated as part of the overall strategic
review carried out by ICA:UK in 2005.
ICA:UK’s International programmes are underpinned by
the overall Mission and Values
of ICA:UK and, more specifically, by the programmes’
own Principles
